As part of a special topics course at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC), J365 Election 2016 was a collaborative student reporting project focused on the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Through the @J365Election16 Twitter account, students provided live updates, analysis, and multimedia coverage of key events, debates, and election night results.
The project offered hands-on experience in political journalism, real-time reporting, and audience engagement during one of the most unprecedented election cycles in U.S. history. It also served as a dynamic learning environment for students to apply newsroom ethics, social media strategy, and rapid response coverage under the guidance of SOJC faculty.
