Reporting Roseburg: Journalist Narratives
As part of a collaborative project with faculty and graduate students at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication, I served as a producer and multimedia editor for Reporting Roseburg: One Year Later. This in-depth multimedia piece examines how journalists, community members, and survivors responded to and processed the aftermath of the 2015 Umpqua Community College shooting in Roseburg, Oregon.
My production work on this project included visual storytelling, video editing, and coordinating multimedia assets to support a compelling and sensitive narrative. I helped shape the tone and pacing of the documentary elements, ensuring the visuals aligned with the human-centered approach of the reporting. The project was deeply collaborative and required careful attention to ethical storytelling, trauma-informed practices, and technical precision.
This work exemplifies my commitment to socially relevant media production and to guiding students through the ethical challenges of reporting and storytelling in emotionally charged contexts.
